The Importance of Instincts

May 13, 2017September 4, 2017

“Great instincts lead to great promotion. Since leadership instincts have the power to influence net worth, it may be worth your time to spend a little time enhancing those instincts and acting on them when given the freedom to do so.” – T.D. Jakes

Each of us is familiar with that “gut feeling” — that sensation that can cause us to feel uneasy as we examine a situation or person we don’t quite trust. Maybe it’s that feeling that drives you to make that big out-of- state move, follow your passion, or ask for the promotion you feel you deserve. This feeling may go by a number of names or phrases, but it’s most commonly referred to as instinct.

In his 2014 book INSTINCT: The Power to Unleash Your Inborn Drive, pastor and author T.D. Jakes discusses at length the rhythm, complexity and power of the innate force many of us often try to suppress or overlook.

Because life has no concrete guarantees or assurances, one of the best lessons we can learn as human beings is to trust and follow our instincts. Combined with the insight of intuition, foresight, and wisdom, instincts allow us to navigate the day-to-day choices and decisions of life and adulthood, resulting in growth and understanding that we can share with others along the way.

How would trusting and following your instincts change your life? How could going with your gut benefit your future?
